U.S. Employees’ Perceptions of Discrimination Against LGBTQ People

April 12, 2021|The Williams Institute
A study from Williams Institute examines perceptions of LGBTQ workplace discrimination among U.S. employees who work in the public and private sectors while assessing the attitudes of all Americans toward non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people. Among the findings of the report:

  • Employees in all sectors report high levels of discrimination and harassment of LGBTQ employees at work.
  • Nearly nine in 10 adult students report hearing anti-LGBTQ remarks in school.
  • LGBTQ employees are twice as likely to feel that LGBTQ people are treated worse at work than non-LGBTQ employees.
