In collaboration with The School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, OutRight Action International's publication "Creating Safe Schools & Support for LGBT Students" offers recommendations, highlights important themes, and presents target goals for the future progress of LGBT students' access to education, ensuring that efforts to build inclusive and equitable education opportunities are truly universal and no student is left behind. The report offers several recommendations to educators and school systems, including: Committing to ending stigma and discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC) within education law, policy, guidelines, and curricula.
It has become increasingly difficult for community-based organizations to operate, a phenomenon frequently referred to as shrinking space for civil society. A report from OutRight Action International analyzes how LGBTIQ organizations across the world are specifically impacted by new laws restricting access to funding, laws equating human rights with the corruption of youth, and laws written to equate activism with threats to national security.
