New York, NY – (January 24, 2017) – The Arcus Foundation announced today the appointment of Annette Lanjouw, previously Vice President, Great Apes Program and Strategic Initiatives, and Jason McGill, previously Vice President of Social Justice Program, as Co-Executive Directors of the foundation. Lanjouw and McGill will retain responsibility for the Great Apes and Social Justice programs as they assume executive leadership of Arcus, following the departure of Kevin Jennings, who had led the foundation as Executive Director making significant contributions since 2012.
LGBTQ Latinx Groups and Allies Reaffirm Their Resolve to End Violence Against Marginalized Communities Following the Orlando Tragedy
We, the undersigned, a coalition of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Latinx organizations and allies make the following statement in the spirit of education and with the purpose of honoring the more than 100 people who were murdered or injured at Pulse nightclub in Orlando on June 12th during the LGBT establishment’s Latinx-themed night. We call on all people to defeat with compassion the scourge of hate crimes based in animus toward LGBTQ people, people of color, and those who live in the intersection of our communities.
Arcus, NoVo Foundation Announce Groundbreaking Philanthropy Initiative to Improve the Lives of Transgender People
The Global Trans Initiative will deploy grants and philanthropic resources totaling at least $20 million to transgender activists and organizations as well as work intended to ensure that all transgender people live in a world where they are recognized, valued, and supported by their families and in society.
“Today’s landmark ruling opens yet another door to the possibility that LGBT Americans will one day be able to enjoy all of the possibilities that are truly equal to those of our fellow citizens, and that our neighbors will know, see and respect us for who we are,” said Kevin Jennings, Arcus’ Executive Director.
