Oil Exploration Suspended in Virunga National Park, home to Gorillas

African Wildlife Foundation, an Arcus grantee, reports that the Democratic Republic of Congo has suspended oil exploration activities in Virunga National Park, Africa’s oldest national park and home to mountain gorillas and a small population of eastern lowland gorillas. Says AWF President Helen Gichohi, "We commend the government on this wise action, and urge it to take additional measures to protect Africa's oldest wildlife park."
